Our Story

Welcome to our bakery, where every dessert is made with care and creativity!

From a tiny oven to a growing bakery, Baked by Scratch has always been built on a love for baking, a lot of hard work, and a dream to create something of our own.

We’re Ariel and Avi, the husband-and-wife team behind Baked by Scratch. What started as a passion project in 2015 has grown into an artisanal bakery supplying coffee shops, restaurants, and bars throughout Brooklyn and beyond, as well as creating desserts for private events and celebrations.

For Ariel, baking has been a lifelong love. As a child, she spent countless hours in the kitchen helping her mom and dreaming up sweet creations. She became known for bringing cakes to school for her friends’ birthdays, and it wasn’t long before she knew she wanted to turn her passion into a career. After studying hospitality at Johnson & Wales University, she continued her training at Estella Baking and Pastry School in Israel and in France, where she became an internationally certified pastry chef.

Our journey started small, baking in a tiny toaster oven, just one pan at a time, and building the business one order at a time. As demand grew, so did our operation. We moved into professional kitchen spaces and now work out of a commissary kitchen that allows us to bake up to 32 pans at a time. Along the way, we’ve expanded our wholesale offerings and built a team that shares our commitment to quality, creativity, and the little details that make every dessert special.

Along the way, we’ve also grown our family, welcoming three children in just four years while continuing to grow the business together. Building Baked by Scratch has been a journey of constant learning, long nights, big milestones, and plenty of challenges - but through it all, our love for what we do has remained the same.

Today, every dessert we make reflects what has always mattered to us: quality ingredients, thoughtful flavor combinations, and the care that goes into making something truly special. Whether our desserts are enjoyed alongside someone’s morning coffee or served at a special celebration, we want every bite to feel homemade and delicious.
